Permission to Reflect
Think back on all that 2021 has presented in your life over the past 12 months. Use this moment to reflect on where you were a year ago. What small victories have you accomplished? How did you feel going into December of 2021? What were you fearful of? What did you achieve? Take a moment to write down three wishes that came true this year. Let gratitude seep into your soul for just a moment before you start setting new goals for 2022.
Life is busy again. There were moments last year when we longed for it to look like this. But let’s not forget what quarantine provided. In our home, it provided us with permission to slow down and prioritize what really mattered. It created so much gratitude for the simplest of things (trick or treating at a few houses was enough). It required us to be more present.
Here we are a year later and life is returning back to “normal''. Family gatherings, birthday parties, and so many fall/holiday activities are filling up our calendar. Life is busy, but it doesn’t have to become overwhelming. We can still choose to slow down where it matters.
What matters to you? I challenge you to choose one goal in 2022 just for you. One that really matters. Ask yourself who do you want to be when you grow up? Show your children what it looks like to keep evolving. Be committed to yourself.
Even though you have everything you’ve ever wanted, what is it that you are longing for? Is it inner peace, health, sleep, true friendship, a redefined purpose? Give yourself space to review all of the good and all of the bad that happened in 2020 and 2021. And be intentional with what you're striving for in 2022.
